How did Educate to Elevate (E2E) come about?
When the Movement Control Order (MCO) was imposed back in 2020, education access was limited for students without access to online learning equipment. With constant news reports about the direness of the situation, orphanages faced major difficulties, both in providing access to online education for children and for tutors to be present to teach in person.
As an online student herself, Yuen Qi, Founder of Educate to Elevate, understood all too well the difficulties of online learning; the mere thought of going without education for months on end was unimaginable.
Thus, with the opportunity to initiate the project and seek like-minded individuals who are equally as passionate about providing education to bridge the education gap in Malaysia, Educate to Elevate was born.
Educate to Elevate is here to stay.
E2E started with the aim of providing a long-term solution to education inequality, so no, it's not a one-off project. Every action is calculated, every plan put forward represents hundreds of hours spent mulling over its sustainability.
Just like a well-oiled machine, each of our volunteers is a component designed to specialise in a task; collectively, we contribute towards an impactful outcome!
Our current beneficiary is Berkat Children’s Home in Johor and we're working with 28 students, separated into 4 age groups. We are looking to expand the project to include other communities in need.
Everything in E2E, from project management to daily lessons, is conducted online. As such, all our volunteers need are a stable internet connection, a fully functioning device and a heart to volunteer to join us in combating education inequality.
What makes us different from other projects is that the long-term commitment also allows for extended interaction and bonding between the volunteers and students. We value the relationship of trust between the beneficiary and the volunteers, which further ensures the consistency and sustainability of the project itself.
